About Our Charter Services
Anteater Express offers charter services to University affiliates and authorized student organizations and grants charters on a first-come, first-served basis as the availability of University buses allows. Charters include University vehicle(s) and driver(s) and are limited to locations within Orange County, CA. Professional and courteous staff will assist you in building your charter reservation. There is a 3 hour minimum for each in-service period for all charter reservations. This minimum will include 30 minutes allocated for a mandatory vehicle safety inspection. Wheelchair accessibility varies depending upon vehicle selection.
Any additional costs will be added to your invoice following the completion of your event.
Parking and Toll Reimbursement: In addition to the hourly rate and mileage fees for chartering a vehicle with driver, the chartering group is responsible for reimbursing Anteater Express for any fees incurred during the charter. This includes parking fees and road or bridge tolls.
Vehicle Cleaning and Repair: Typically, vehicles are cleaned at no charge to the chartering group. If however, the chartering group abuses a vehicle in such a way that it requires extensive cleaning or repair, the group will be assessed an additional charge.
Late Submissions: If a new charter reservation (or significant changes to an existing charter reservation) is received within 5 business days of the charter, Anteater Express cannot guarantee charter services until equipment and driver availability have been confirmed. If Anteater Express can fulfill your request, late submissions will be charged at 1.5 times the hourly rate.
Additional Staffing Support: For any charter reservation that requires additional staff support in the form of an on-duty supervisor, there will be an added fee of $30/hour for each supervisor. This fee will only be assessed for chartering groups that request 3 or more vehicles during the same time period and will only take place when additional staff support is necessary. In cases where additional staff support is needed, it is unlikely that more than one supervisor will be required. Additional staff support will be added to a charter reservation under the following circumstances:
- Monday through Friday: For charters ending between the hours of 3:00PM and 6:00AM
- Saturday and Sunday: Anytime
- UCI Holidays: Anytime
Event Coordination: For chartering groups that are interested in supplemental event coordination, we may provide detailed cost estimates, route timing, and a formal itinerary which may include maps with pickup and drop off locations for passengers at your request. This service will be an additional $85 fee.

How to Make a Charter Reservation

Step 3 - Submit Forms from Steps 1 and 2
Submit Charter Reservation Form and applicable Charter Itinerary Form to Anteater Express staff by email at email@example.com.
Note: Anteater Express staff must receive the Charter Reservation Form and applicable charter itinerary form at least 5 business days prior to the date of your event to avoid additional fees.
Step 4 - Finalizing the Details of your Charter
- After reviewing the details of your charter, a staff member will be in contact to determine if your request can be fulfilled.
- If you have not received a follow-up call within 48 hours of submitting your request, please contact us directly by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Step 5 - Preparing for your Charter
Approximately two business days prior to your event, you will receive an email finalizing the details of your charter. It will include the contact information of your charter driver(s) and your finalized charter itinerary.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between "Standard" and "Fixed-Route" charters?
Standard Charters are ideal when chartering groups would like to be picked up/dropped off at a destination(s) of interest.
Example: A chartering group would like to be picked up at 11:00AM at Aldrich Hall and dropped off at Downtown Disney, then would like to be picked up at Downtown Disney at 3:00PM and returned to Aldrich Hall at UC Irvine.
Additional Purposes: Field Trips, Campus Tours, Business Functions, Recreation etc.
Continuous Fixed-Route Charters are ideal when service of stops will be repeated during a given time frame with or without a fixed schedule.
Example: Chartering group wishes to transport students from various housing areas on campus to a special event held at the Bren Events Center. Each stop would be serviced multiple times in order to transport the volume of students to and from the desired locations throughout the duration of the charter.
Additional Purposes: Special Events, Festivals, Commencement etc.
What costs are included in the charter rates?
Charter rates include costs associated with the use of University vehicle (fuel and vehicle maintenance) and driver.
How do I make a change to my charter itinerary before the event?
If you make changes to an existing charter reservation outside of 5 business days, there will be no penalty for your revisions.
How to Request a Change to your Charter itinerary: Submit your change request to Anteater Express Staff by email to email@example.com and Anteater Express Staff will follow up with your request within 48 hours.
Note: Changes in charter duration and quantity of vehicle will be reflected in your final invoice.
If you make changes to an existing charter reservation within 5 business days of your event, Anteater Express cannot guarantee charter services until equipment and driver availability have been confirmed. If Anteater Express staff can confirm your request, late revisions may be charged at 1.5 times the hourly charter rate for the type of vehicle selected.
What do I do if I need to make a change to my charter during the event?
If you find that you need to make a last minute change to your charter reservation due to unforeseeable circumstances (i.e. weather):
- Contact charter driver in order to request your charter itinerary change.
- Charter driver contact information will be sent prior to event.
- Following your request, your charter driver will contact Anteater Express Staff for approval of the desired change. It is at the discretion of Anteater Express Staff to confirm your change request.
What do I do if I need to cancel a charter?
Any charter cancellations must be submitted by email to Anteater Express at firstname.lastname@example.org and will be confirmed once received and reviewed by staff.
If you choose to cancel any portion of your charter reservation within 48 hours of the start of your event you will be subject to the following.
Entire charter: you will be subject to a $150.00 cancellation fee.
Vehicle(s): you will be subject to a $50.00 cancellation fee per vehicle (up to $150.00).
When will I receive an invoice?

Who do I contact if I have lost an item on an Anteater Express bus while on a charter?
Anteater Express turns over all lost and found items to the UCI Police Department the following morning after the item has been turned in. Found property is released at the UCI Police Department front counter Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Does Anteater Express provide transportation for smaller groups?
Yes! Anteater Express provides VIP Transportation Services.
VIP Transportation Services:
Anteater Express will coordinate the rental of smaller vehicles and provide drivers. Transportation radius is extended beyond Orange County. For more information, contact Anteater Express at firstname.lastname@example.org.
VIP Transportation Services are ideal when chartering groups would like to transport smaller groups to be picked up/dropped off at a destination(s) of interest.
Example: Chartering group would like to transport 6 professors from LAX Airport to a conference taking place at UC Irvine. Following the conference, would like to transport 5 of the 6 professors to hotels in the area.
Additional Purposes: Transporting professors, distinguished visitors, and concert "Talent" to and from a variety of locations.
